Who I am
The developer who also asks "but why are we building this?"
Hello, I'm Simi, short for Victoria Similejesu Ariyo. I'm a Frontend Lead, Scrum Master, and product-minded developer based in Lagos, Nigeria. I joined Sidmach Technologies through the NYSC programme and never left, because the problems kept getting more interesting.
My work lives at the intersection of engineering and leadership. I write React and TypeScript, run sprints, mentor junior developers, manage stakeholder expectations, and still care deeply about whether the button label is exactly right. I believe the best engineers understand the business problem as well as the technical one.
I'm currently pursuing an MBA at Ahmadu Bello University not to leave engineering, but to get sharper at the parts of the job that happen in rooms without laptops. I also hold Azure Fundamentals and Azure AI Fundamentals certifications.
Beyond the job title
Outside of engineering, I have a deep interest in the events and entertainment space.I love exploring what a thoughtfully designed product in that industry could look like. I also conceived ScopeAI, an idea for an AI-assisted feature scoping tool inspired by the manual scoping process I use at work.

My approach
How I work
The principles that show up in every project, every sprint, every team I've been part of.
I scope before I code
Every feature I've built started with a question: are we solving the right problem? I use a structured, manual scoping process at Sidmach; working through requirements, edge cases, and stakeholder alignment before writing a single line. It's not glamorous, but it's why our sprints don't collapse halfway through.
I lead people, not just tasks
As Scrum Master and Frontend Lead, I've learned that the job isn't moving tickets across a board; it's making sure every person on the team understands the why, has what they need, and feels safe raising blockers early. Velocity follows trust.
I write code that future-me can read
Readable, well-structured code is a team sport. I champion component documentation, and consistent naming conventions. I've onboarded new hires and mentored interns. A clean code is how knowledge transfers.
I own outcomes, not just deliverables
Shipping a feature isn't done when the PR merges. I track whether it's being used, whether it broke something downstream, and whether it actually solved the problem it was built for. I close the loop.
